The Vivo Y76 5G has officially arrived in Malaysia and this is currently the “most affordable” 5G device in Vivo’s current lineup. Despite being an entry-level phone, the Y76 5G comes with a rather high price tag for the hardware specs its offers.
Vivo Y76 5G Malaysia Pricing and Availability
The Vivo Y76 5G is officially priced at RM1,299 in Malaysia and it is open for pre-order until 26th November 2021. The device comes in two colours – Cosmic Aurora and Midnight Space. The first-day sale in Malaysia is happening on the 27th November 2021.
As part of its pre-order promo, buyers can get freebies worth RM587. This includes an instant RM50 rebate voucher, a Vanzo Fragrance Gift Set worth RM138, 1-year extended warranty worth RM199 and 1-year screen crack protection worth RM200. Vivo Y76 5G Specs
The Vivo Y76 5G is quite similar to the Y76s 5G that was launched in China but it comes with several differences. Upfront, it still features a 6.58″ Full HD+ (2408×1080 pixels) display and it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip, instead of a newer Dimensity 810 chip that’s powering the Y76s. For Malaysia, we are getting the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version which can be expanded further via microSD. To get a boost in multitasking performance, you can add 4GB of virtual RAM, giving a total of 12GB RAM with Vivo’s Extended RAM feature.
While the China version gets a dual-camera setup, the Y76 5G in Malaysia comes with a total of 3 cameras at the rear. It features a 50MP f/1.8 main camera and two 2MP f/2.4 shooters for portrait and macro effects. For selfies, the tiny notch on the screen houses a 16MP front camera. The device offers several camera features including Super NIght Mode for both front and back cameras, Eye Autofocus, Dual-View Video, and Double Exposure.
Besides supporting 5G connectivity, the Y76 5G support 5GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 5.1. Powering the device is a respectable 4,100mAh battery and it supports 44W fast charging via USB-C. Out of the box, it runs on Android 11 with FunTouch OS 12 skin on top.
The Vivo Y76 5G’s price tag is hard to swallow
While this is Vivo’s most affordable 5G smartphone, it is very expensive in comparison to other 5G phones in the market. The Redmi Note 10 5G and the latest Poco M4 Pro 5G offer a higher 90Hz screen refresh rate and a larger 5,000mAh battery but both are priced well below the RM1,000 mark. Even the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G that runs on the same Dimensity 700 5G chip costs RM999 and it also comes with a large 5,000mAh battery.
If you can afford the Vivo Y76 5G, you would definitely get better value with the Poco F3 5G which is offered for as low as RM1,199 during online sales. The Poco F3 5G comes with a superior 6.67″ Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and it runs on a flagship-class Snapdragon 870 5G chip.
