Xiaomi Malaysia has officially announced the Poco M4 Pro 5G and it’s their brand new budget 5G smartphone. The new phone succeeds the Poco M3 Pro 5G that was announced in June this year. The M4 Pro 5G offers several significant upgrades including a higher-resolution 50MP camera and a more powerful processor, while keeping the price under RM1,000.

Poco M4 Pro 5G Malaysia pricing and availability

The Poco M4 Pro 5G will go on sale in Malaysia starting from 11.11. Below is the official pricing in Malaysia:

  • Poco M4 Pro 5G 4GB RAM + 64GB storage – RM849
  • Poco M4 Pro 5G 6GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM999

During the 11.11 sale which is happening exclusively on Shopee, you can get an additional RM100 off while stocks last. This means, the Poco M4 Pro 64GB can be yours for RM749, while the 128GB is offered for RM899. The Poco M4 Pro 5G is available in 3 colours – Poco Yellow, Power Black and Cool Blue.

Poco M4 Pro 5G Specs

The Poco M4 Pro 5G comes with a slightly larger 6.6″ Full HD+ display which pushes a 90Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. To optimise power consumption, it has a DynamicSwitch feature which toggles the refresh rate between 50Hz, 60Hz and 90Hz.

Replacing the previous Dimensity 700 chip, the new phone gets a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 810 processor paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. If you need more, you can expand the storage further via a microSD card up to 1TB.

Despite having a large camera bump with a prominent POCO branding, the M4 Pro 5G actually features a dual-camera setup. Although it has one less camera than its predecessor, it gets a higher-resolution 50MP f/1.8 main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter which is probably more useful than having macro and depth cameras. For selfies, the device gets a 16MP selfie camera that sits in a punch-hole on the display.

The Poco M4 Pro 5G comes with stereo speakers which is an upgrade from the mono-speakers on the M3 Pro 5G. It still retains a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM Radio and an infrared blaster. Also included is an X-axis linear motor for a more flagship-class feeling vibration.

Powering the device is a large 5,000mAh battery and it supports a quicker 33W fast charging via USB-C. It is claimed that you can get a full charge within an hour and a quick 10-minute charge can provide enough power for over 2 hours of video streaming. Out of the box, it runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 skin on top and the 33W fast charger is also included.
