TM has made a couple of announcements today as part of its #khabarbaik movement. One of the biggest updates is Unifi Turbo Upgrade where existing fibre broadband customers can get up to 10X the speed while maintaining the same subscription fee. After a period of 6 months, the broadband provider has indicated that more than 90% of its eligible customers have gotten their Unifi Turbo upgrade.
During the event, Moharmustaqeem Mohammad, the Acting Executive Vice President of Unifi had shared that “In total, about 1 million are eligible for the turbo upgrading exercise. Existing Unifi customers will see up to a tenfold speed boost with the turbo upgrades; from 10Mbps to 100Mbps, from 30Mbps to 300Mbps, from 50Mbps to 500Mbps, and from 100Mbps to 800Mbps – all at the same rates that they are currently paying. To date, we have successfully upgraded over 910,000 Unifi customers and more than 66% of over 340,000 Streamyx customers residing in Unifi coverage areas to unifi; at the same price of their current plan. The rest of the 130,000 Streamyx customers who have yet to grab this opportunity for the free upgrade are encouraged to do so. We aim to complete this speed upgrading exercise by March 2019. In the meantime, we do acknowledge that some upgraded customers are facing speed hiccups which we are resolving soonest possible.”
Mohar also shared that January 2019 was a great month for Unifi as they have recorded 37% increase in sales compared to the average monthly figures in 2018. At the moment, Unifi’s broadband offering for new customers is streamlined to just two plans – RM79/month for 30Mbps with 60GB of quota and RM129/month for 100Mbps with unlimited quota.
