The BlackBerry Bold with touch screen is officially announced by RIM today. The BlackBerry Bold being a business oriented device is now more practical with the typical QWERTY keys for fast input and with a touch screen for ease of navigation. Finally you can touch the screen of the Bold!
One of the most important highlight is that the Bold 9900/9930 is the thinnest BlackBerry ever produced at only 10.5mm. It comes with a 2.8″ screen with resolution of 640×480 which is a vast improvement over its predecessors and a pixel density of 287dpi. To meet with growing demand, the new Bold now comes with a faster 1.2GHz snapdragon processor and runs on the latest BlackBerry 7 OS. According to CrackBerry that managed to get a hands-on, the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 feels much faster with the UI being smoother which is what RIM calls “Liquid Graphics”.
So what’s the difference between 9900 and 9930? According to Engadget, the 9900 supports HSPA+ while the 9930 is a world phone which supports both GSM and CDMA. Both devices will support 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1. It also comes with 8GB of storage, 5MP camera and support for NFC.
Now we wonder when will Celcom, DiGi, Maxis and U Mobile offer the new touch screen Bold? Not too long ago when the BlackBerry Torch was announced, it didn’t take too long for the device to reach our shores. Let’s hope it will be here in couple of months time.
