Huawei Nova 2i Malaysia

Huawei will be launching the Nova 2i in Malaysia next week. Ahead of its big reveal, the Chinese smartphone maker has already announced the same device in China as the Maimang 6.

Many had speculated that it will be called the Huawei Mate 10 lite for global markets but we can definitely confirm that this will be the Nova 2i when it hits the Malaysian market.

The Nova 2i is the latest member of the Nova 2 series which is now positioned as Huawei’s selfie-centric lineup. Jumping on the “full-screen” bandwagon, the Nova 2i features a 5.9″ IPS display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio. It does a FullHD+ resolution of 2160×1080 with a pixel density of 407ppi.

Referring to the Maimang 6 China product page, it runs on a Kirin 659 Octa-Core processor that’s also powering the RM1,999 Nova 2 Plus and it comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. If you need more, you can expand up to 256GB extra via microSD.

Apart from the screen, the Nova 2i stands out for having a total of 4 cameras. The rear gets a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera setup while the front comes with a 13MP + 2MP camera combo.

Powering the Nova 2i is a 3,340mAh battery which charges via micro USB. It also gets a fingerprint sensor at the rear and out of the box it runs on EMUI 5.1 that’s based on Android 7.0.

Ahead of its local launch, the Malaysian Huawei Nova 2i pricing has been revealed at RM1,299. If it’s true, that’s quite affordable especially when the Maimang 6 is priced higher at 2,399CNY (about RM1,520) on VMall China. We’ll be there at the Malaysian launch so stay tuned to us for official pricing and availability.

Thanks @KevinNgTK for the tip!
