If you’ve been looking for a new affordable flagship phablet, honor Malaysia will soon introduce the honor 8 Pro in our local market. Now it appears that a Huawei Concept Store has started accepting pre-orders and we now have the pricing of this new Huawei P10 Plus alternative.
According to the Huawei/Honor concept store at IOI City Mall, the honor 8 Pro is priced at RM2,099 and they are accepting pre-orders since yesterday. No availability dates were provided but judging from the teasers, it should be on sale shortly after the Raya break.
To recap on the specs, the honor 8 Pro (also known as honor V9 in China) has a 5.7″ Quad HD display and it runs on a Kirin 960 Octa-Core processor with 6GB of RAM which is similar to Huawei’s flagship P10 Plus smartphone. On board it comes with 64GB of storage which can be expanded further via microSD.
For photography, the honor 8 Pro gets a dual-camera system that uses two 12MP cameras. One shoots in RGB while the other shoots in monochrome but without the Leica badge. For selfies, it gets an 8MP front camera.
Powering this 5.7″ phablet is a 4,000mAh battery which supports 9V 2A fast charging via USB Type-C. Out of the box, it runs on EMUI 5.1 that’s based on Android 7.0.
At RM2,099, the honor 8 Pro is quite an affordable buy for the hardware that it offers. As a comparison, the smaller Huawei P10 is priced at RM2,499 while the bigger Huawei P10 Plus is going for RM3,099.
