The Tesla Cybercab will make its official debut in Malaysia later this week. The tour was confirmed by Tesla Malaysia on its official Instagram page.

The 2-seater robotaxi is currently touring Southeast Asia, having kicked off in Singapore earlier this month. Following its Malaysian stint, the autonomous vehicle is slated to head up north to Thailand.

Just like the Tesla Cybertruck roadshow back in 2024, the Cybercab is visiting Malaysia strictly as a technology showcase. As far as we know, Tesla has no plans to deploy an autonomous robotaxi service in Malaysia anytime soon, despite growing local interest in autonomous mobility.

According to the Tesla Robotaxi app—which is surprisingly available for download in Malaysia—rides can currently only be hailed in select areas within a few US cities:

  • Bay Area, California
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Austin, Texas
  • Houston, Texas
  • Orlando, Florida
  • Tampa, Florida
  • Miami, Florida

Even then, dedicated Cybercab rides are currently restricted to Austin. In other markets, Tesla relies on modified Model Y units as its robotaxi fleet.

Tesla Cybercab Malaysia Tour 2026: Schedule and mystery gift

Circling back to this side of the world: Tesla Malaysia has confirmed that the Cybercab showcase will stop at four locations. Three stops will be in the Klang Valley, with the tour wrapping up in Penang:

  • 29 Oct – 1 Nov: Mid Valley Megamall, KL
  • 3 – 9 Nov: Sunway Square Mall, Selangor
  • 10 – 11 Nov: Pavilion Damansara Heights, KL
  • 13 – 22 Nov: Gurney Plaza, Penang

According to Tesla Malaysia’s website, visitors can score an exclusive mystery Cybercab gift by registering for a 15-minute guided walkthrough session. The gift is also extended to those who complete a test drive in a Model 3, Model Y, or Model Y L during the showcase.

Registration for the guided walkthrough and test drives is live on Tesla Malaysia’s official portal—you can sign up for the Mid Valley Megamall KL session here or the Sunway Square Mall session here.

Tesla Cybercab Quick Specs

Featuring a gold-tinted exterior, the Cybercab is essentially a sleek, 2-door liftback coupe equipped with upward-opening butterfly doors. While there is no frunk, it sports a deep 572L boot with a payload capacity of up to 100 kg—sufficient for two checked suitcases and two carry-on bags, according to Tesla.

Tesla is known for extreme minimalism, but the Cybercab takes it to a whole new level. Step inside, and you won’t find a steering wheel, accelerator pedal, brake pedal, or even a traditional glovebox.

Instead, the cabin features two sculpted seats, a massive 22-inch central display, and a simple pair of window switches sitting just beneath the screen. Aside from displaying route progress and arrival estimates, the touchscreen controls cabin climate, streams media entertainment, and pops the doors open once the trip wraps up.

While Tesla didn’t officially list the Cybercab’s performance benchmarks, an EPA certification filing revealed that the vehicle runs a front-wheel-drive single motor pushing 163 kW (219 hp).

Paired with an estimated 48 kWh battery pack, the EPA filing logged an unadjusted lab result of 673 km (418 miles). Applying the EPA’s typical 0.7 adjustment factor translates to an estimated real-world combined range of around 472 km (293 miles).

During the vehicle’s original reveal in 2024, Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed the production Cybercab would target a price tag under USD30,000 (~RM122,658) and is expected to be ready for sale to general consumers in 2027.
