Apple has introduced its fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, its first major hardware refresh since 2022.
The latest Apple TV 4K brings a faster processor, improved home theatre capabilities and a new Siri Remote that’s easier to find when misplaced.
Besides being a streaming device, the Apple TV 4K also doubles as a smart home hub, allowing users to manage compatible smart home devices directly from their television.
4th gen Apple TV 4K Malaysia Pricing and Availability

The new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) is officially priced at RM1,349 in Malaysia. Unlike its predecessor, the new model is offered in a single 128GB variant with Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity.
Pre-orders will begin at 9:00am on 15 October 2026 (MYT) through the Apple Store online and Apple Store app. The device will officially be available starting 13 November 2026.
For comparison, the previous Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) was offered in two variants in Malaysia. The 64GB Wi-Fi model was priced at RM949, while the 128GB Wi-Fi + Ethernet model cost RM1,149.
This means the new Apple TV 4K costs RM200 more than the previous 128GB model, while retaining the same storage capacity and Ethernet connectivity.
4th gen Apple TV 4K: What’s new for 2026?

One of the biggest upgrades is a more powerful Apple A19 chip, replacing the A15 Bionic used by the previous-generation Apple TV 4K.
According to Apple, the A19 delivers up to 50% faster CPU performance and twice the GPU performance compared to its predecessor. This should translate to faster navigation, smoother animations and improved performance when running apps and games.
The A19 also introduces a dedicated AV1 decoder, enabling more efficient video streaming while consuming less bandwidth. This is particularly useful for streaming services that support the AV1 video codec.

Another major addition is support for four-speaker surround sound when paired with the newly announced HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation).
Previously, Apple TV 4K supported HomePod stereo pairing, allowing users to connect two compatible HomePod speakers for a home theatre setup.
With the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, users can now connect four compatible HomePod speakers to create a surround sound system.

The setup supports four matching HomePod mini 2 speakers or a combination of HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini 2 speakers, provided the front and rear speakers are configured as matching pairs.
Apple says the system can automatically recognise where each speaker is positioned in the room and calibrate audio timing and levels accordingly.

The latest Siri Remote now supports Precision Finding through Apple’s Find My app, allowing users to locate a misplaced remote using a compatible iPhone.
It also introduces the ability to play a sound directly from the Siri Remote, making it easier to find when it slips between sofa cushions or gets misplaced around the living room.
According to Apple, Precision Finding requires an iPhone Duo, iPhone Air or iPhone 17 series or newer, excluding the iPhone 17e, running the latest iOS software. The ability to play a sound is exclusive to the new Siri Remote.

Beyond entertainment, Apple TV 4K continues to function as an Apple Home hub, allowing users to control compatible smart home accessories remotely.
With a compatible smart doorbell, users can receive notifications on their television, see who’s at the door and even communicate with visitors without interrupting what they’re watching.
The Apple TV 4K also supports smart home automations, guest mode, Thread networking and HomeKit Secure Video.
For privacy, the new Apple TV 4K introduces Secure Exclaves, which Apple describes as protected processing environments that keep microphone data separate from the rest of the system. Apple says data processed within these environments cannot be accessed by tvOS, apps, users or Apple itself.
Besides streaming movies and TV shows, the device continues to support Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+ and FaceTime calls using Continuity Camera with a compatible iPhone or iPad.
