Xiaomi is officially set to launch the Redmi Note 17 Series locally on 18 August 2026. Anchored by the tagline “Titan power, go max,” the launch marks a strategic shift for Xiaomi’s best-selling mid-range family.

For the first time in the Redmi Note lineage, Xiaomi is adding a Pro Max model above the standard and Pro variants. Positioned as the top-tier offering, the Pro Max brings maximum battery capacity, reinforced build quality, and elevated performance features to the mid-range tier. The flagship feature of the top-end Note 17 Series is its massive 10,000mAh battery.

What to expect from Redmi Note 17 Series

Xiaomi says the Redmi Note 17 Series is built to last up to 6 years, covering battery health, security updates, and smooth performance over that time.

On the hardware side, the series is backed by TÜV SÜD certification across three durability categories:

  • Battery – Xiaomi’s largest-ever battery for the series, using silicon-carbon cell technology, reportedly reaching up to 10,000mAh on the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, rated for 1,600 charge cycles while retaining over 80% capacity.
  • Drop resistance – certified for 3-metre drops.
  • Water resistance – Features 17 custom waterproof components and 10 airtightness tests to safeguard internal hardware against high-temperature water sprays, heavy rain, and accidental submersions.

Anne Wang, Redmi’s Marketing Director at Xiaomi International, said the Redmi Note 17 Series pushes the brand’s “premium products made accessible” philosophy further, with the Pro Max model in particular meant to bring “max design, max quality, and max experience” to the line for the first time.

In China, the Redmi Note 17 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset while the standard Redmi Note 17 runs on a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. Malaysia will get the full rundown of specs including chipset, RAM, storage, and camera details tomorrow.

The Redmi Note 17 Series arrives in Malaysia on 18 August 2026. Stay tuned for more updates on pricing and full specs.
