Touch ‘n Go Digital (TNG Digital) is supporting the Public Service Department (JPA) in a new financial inclusion initiative, offering TNG eWallet as an alternative payment channel for eligible pensioners.

This move is aimed at retirees who face challenges receiving their monthly pensions through conventional banking channels, particularly in situations where bank accounts are frozen or restricted after falling victim to financial scams.

By providing this alternative, JPA and TNG Digital aim to prevent unnecessary hardship for elderly Malaysians who rely on their monthly pension as an essential source of income.

Free TNG eWallet Visa Card for eligible pensioners

Pensioners can also apply for a TNG eWallet Visa Card for free as TNG Digital is waiving the fees for new card issuance.

Linked directly to the user’s eWallet balance, the card allows retirees to withdraw cash at ATMs and make payments at any Visa merchant worldwide. This provides pensioners with the flexibility to manage their funds and daily expenses without being tied to a traditional bank account.

According to TNG Digital, the eWallet platform already serves more than 3.4 million verified users aged 60 and above.

TNG Digital Chief Executive Officer Alan Ni stated that this strong adoption rate demonstrates growing confidence in digital financial services among older Malaysians. He added that the company is honoured to support JPA by ensuring no eligible pensioner is left without access to the payments they depend on.

Security measures for peace of mind

To ensure funds remain secure, TNG eWallet enforces a mandatory 100% electronic identity verification (eKYC) process for its users.

The platform also implements biometric authentication, device binding, and a Kill Switch feature.

Furthermore, a dedicated fraud support hotline is available to help pensioners manage their accounts with greater confidence and provide peace of mind to their families.
