Apple has quietly updated its Apple Music subscription rates in Malaysia. While Individual and Family plans have seen a modest RM1.00 to RM2.00 monthly increase, bundling via Apple One currently remains unchanged, offering a cost-effective alternative for local users.
A breakdown of the new Apple Music rates

If you have recently checked your Apple subscription renewal notices, you might have noticed a slight upward tick in your monthly statement. Apple has officially adjusted the pricing structure across its Apple Music streaming tiers in Malaysia.
While price hikes are never a welcome surprise, the local adjustment remains relatively gentle compared to recent global shifts. Depending on the subscription plan you are currently enrolled in, monthly rates have risen by between RM0.60 and RM2.00.
Here is a quick overview comparing the previous monthly fees with the newly revised rates:
| Subscription Tier | Previous Rate (Monthly) | Revised Rate (Monthly) | Price Difference |
| Student Plan | RM8.90 | RM9.50 | +RM0.60 |
| Individual Plan | RM16.90 | RM17.90 | +RM1.00 |
| Family Plan | RM25.90 | RM27.90 | +RM2.00 |
Key context behind the price increase
The Student tier actually moved from RM8.90 to RM9.50 per month, which is a minor adjustment compared to other subscription plans. From the looks of it, the price hike is due to the rise in music licensing and copyright costs. After all, the last increase for Apple Music was back in 2022 and Spotify has made several adjustments with the last one in August 2025.
However, Apple continues to offer a 1-month free trial for new users, providing a comfortable buffer period before any monthly billing begins.
How to maximise your Apple value instead
If you want to relieve the impact of this price adjustment on your monthly budget, you have a few practical options to consider:
The Apple Music Family Plan
At RM27.90 per month, the Apple Music Family Plan allows you to share access with up to five other people (six accounts in total). Because every individual receives a personal account, your custom playlists, listening history, and personal recommendations remain private. When divided equally among six users, the cost works out to under RM4.65 per person, making it substantially cheaper than maintaining a standalone Individual subscription.
The Apple One – All-in-One Alternative
If you regularly rely on multiple Apple services, such as iCloud+ cloud storage, Apple TV+, or Apple Arcade, upgrading to an Apple One bundle remains one of the smartest ways to save money.
The entry-level Apple One Individual tier starts at RM34.90 per month and combines up to four primary services into a single monthly payment. Despite the stand-alone Apple Music price revision, local Apple One pricing remains unchanged for now.
