Tamco to assemble Hoymiles Battery Energy Storage Solutions in Shah Alam

Local power infrastructure solutions provider Tamco Switchgear will soon begin the assembly of Hoymiles Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions at its facility at Shah Alam. It will mark the start of Tamco and Hoymiles strategic partnership that aims to support Malaysia’s future energy infrastructure through a synergy of local industrial expertise and global energy storage technologies.

The partnership came right at the time where Malaysia is working to diversify its energy mix under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) in order to support long-term energy security and economic growth.

“Malaysia’s energy transition presents significant opportunities to strengthen domestic industrial capabilities while accelerating the adoption of advanced clean energy technologies.

The collaboration between Tamco and Hoymiles demonstrates how global expertise can complement Malaysian engineering strengths to deepen local supply chains, facilitate technology transfer and create high-value opportunities for local businesses and talent.

In line with the aspirations of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the NETR, partnerships such as this will strengthen Malaysia’s industrial competitiveness while delivering broader economic and socioeconomic benefits for the rakyat.” – Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO, Malaysian Investment Development Authority.

Originally established in 1966 to support tin mining industry, Tamco has been providing power infrastructure solutions to major energy companies such as Tenaga Nasional and Petronas for over 35 years. The company has since expanded its reach to global markets and it has deployed more than 300,000 switchgear units worldwide alongside 2,300 substations in Malaysia, Dubai and Australia.

From a humble beginning at Zhejiang University in 2012 with a renovated bathhouse as its first office, Hoymiles has since grown into a global clean energy solution provider, specializing in module-level inverters and storage systems. Recognised as a BloombergNEF’s Tier 1 Global Energy Storage Manufacturer and recipient of the EcoVadis Gold Medal for sustainability, Hoymiles products are currently being deployed at over 190 countries and regions.

According to the CEO of Tamco Switchgear, Wong Jun Pin, this collaboration allows the company to expand its energy solutions portfolio by incorporating globally deployed energy storage technologies.

“Innovation creates possibilities, but execution and long-term commitment are what transform them into solutions that industries and communities can depend on. That belief has guided TAMCO for more than six decades and will continue to shape how we contribute to Malaysia’s evolving energy landscape.

Our partnership with Hoymiles represents an important step in expanding the solutions we deliver while strengthening the engineering expertise and technical capabilities needed for the country’s future energy infrastructure.” – Wong Jun Pin,CEO, TAMCO Switchgear (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

The partnership between Tamco and Hoymiles also aims to deliver greater local accessibility and technical support for large-scale energy storage projects within Malaysia.

“Across global markets, we have learned that the success of advanced energy solutions depends as much on trusted local partnerships as it does on technology.

Malaysia has built a strong foundation for the future of energy, and TAMCO’s engineering expertise and deep understanding of the local operating environment make them an ideal partner to translate our global experience into solutions that deliver value locally.” – Dr. Zhao Yi, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Hoymiles.

Tamco – Hoymiles partnership goes beyond the assembly line

Under the first phase of the partnership, Tamco will undertake the local assembly of the Hoymiles’ utility-scale 5MWh and 6MWh AI-enhanced liquid-cooled BESS. However, the collaboration is not limited to just assembly operation.

It will also involve system integration, testing, commissioning, servicing and long-term maintenance, while at the same time, both companies will also work on technical knowledge exchange, specialist talent development and localisation initiatives.
