Perodua QV-E can now be obtained from as low as RM63,499, not inclusive of the battery leasing. The electric sportback was originally launched last December with a retail price of RM80,000.
At the same time, Perodua also announced that customers can now get their hands on the QV-E as an outright purchase. Through this option, you can buy the EV with a starting price of RM87,499.
“Perodua and its local vendors have been able to manufacture a significant number of parts locally, and this means that we can further protect local jobs while be less dependent on foreign technology and supply chains.
This development is important as we can now build a more resilient inventory of spare parts – especially the car body parts – to ensure that customers can rely on readily available domestically produced items when they need them.
Due to localisation, we are able to further optimise our operations, and we are now sharing those benefits with our valued customers,” – Zainal Abidin Ahmad, President and CEO, Perodua.
In addition to that, the national automaker has also slashed the monthly subscription fee of QV-E’s Battery as a Service (BAAS) package from RM275 to RM215 inclusive of tax. The subscription duration of 9 years and the warranty policy remain the same.
The subscription fee also applies to existing QV-E owners and will be in effect in their next payment cycle. Perodua also said early adopters of QV-E will be given a “special refund” which will be detailed out by their sales advisors soon.
Perodua QV-E Price: New vs Old
Let’s cut to the chase: how much is the total cost to buy a Perodua QV-E? This is assuming you intend to keep the car for 9 years, which corresponds to the duration of its battery leasing plan:
- Old price: RM80,000 + (RM275 x 108 months) = RM109,700
- New price: RM69,999 + (RM215 x 108 months) = RM93,219
With the new price for both the vehicle and battery leasing, you are looking at a difference of RM16,481.
That being said, Perodua is offering a RM6,500 rebate on the vehicle price. This rebate, which will last until 30 September 2026, further reduces the vehicle price of QV-E to RM63,499.
Inclusive of the time-limited rebate, the total cost to buy a Perodua QV-E is RM86,719.
Perodua QV-E with Battery Subscription vs Outright Purchase: Which is cheaper?
As noted earlier, you can now purchase the QV-E outright. Under this option, the QV-E on-the-road (OTR) price, not inclusive of insurance, is RM93,999.
However, the time-limited RM6,500 rebate that we mentioned earlier also applies to the outright purchase option. With the rebate, the OTR price is reduced to RM87,499.
When you compare the pricing of QV-E with battery leasing versus outright purchase, the difference is only RM780.
Perodua QV-E: Warranty Changes for Outright Purchase
For customers who opted for outright purchase, the battery warranty for their QV-E is slightly different from that of those who purchase the EV with the BAAS plan.
For outright purchase, the QV-E comes with an 8-year / 160,000km warranty for its high-voltage battery. Despite this, Perodua said the company will buy back the battery from customers at the end of the battery’s life.
Under the battery leasing plan, the high-voltage battery warranty for BAAS customers has unlimited mileage. After all, the plan dictates Perodua as the owner of the battery – not the customer.
Regardless of the route you choose to get your hands on the QV-E, the minimum battery State of Health (SOH) guarantee of 70% and the 6-year / 150,000km general vehicle warranty are still the same.
