Pro-Net, the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) subsidiary of Proton, recently revealed that over RM40 million has been invested to localise the digital infrastructure for Proton e.MAS models. The majority of the investments went into establishing the vehicle connectivity platform and cloud services.

This includes deployments at TM data centres in order to ensure that vehicle data is being stored locally. At the moment, the connected vehicle platform currently covers more than 300,000 vehicles nationwide, including ICE-based Proton models and has processed more than 8 million remote control downstream requests from EVs alone.

In addition to that, over RM4 million has also been invested to implement Proton e.MAS integrated EV charging platform. It currently features 7 Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and allows e.MAS owners to access more than 4,300 charging points nationwide directly from the Proton e.MAS app.

Pro-Net said that around 11,000 users have been utilising the integrated EV charging platform so far.  To date, it has recorded around 30,000 charging orders to date with almost 790,000 kWh in charging volume.

The localisation of Proton e.MAS digital infrastructure also involved partnerships with various local telcos, tech, and digital outfits. Aside from TM, Pro-Net said that it has also collaborated with Maxis, Celcom, Altel, TNG Digital, Maybank, Fasspay, Syok, MyTV, and TheNoor.

In fact, over RM10 million of annual value has been generated for local telcos so far, according to the company. Pro-Net also highlighted that the Proton e.MAS localised infotainment hardware is fully manufactured in Malaysia, too.

There are currently 3 models under the Proton e.MAS marquee including the fully-electric e.MAS 7 and e.MAS 5 as well as e.MAS 7 PHEV. Pro-Net has delivered over 20,000 cumulative units of Proton e.MAS models so far since the first model from the family was launched back in December 2024.
