Apple has expanded its free Apple Sports app to more than 90 new countries and regions, and Malaysia is finally on the list. The sports companion app is now available in over 170 countries and regions worldwide, just in time for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Designed as a fast and simple second-screen experience, Apple Sports provides real-time scores, stats and live match tracking for users following their favourite teams and leagues from Champions League, Premier League, Formula 1, NBA, NHL, Nascar and more.

The app also lets users customise their Home screen scoreboard based on teams, tournaments and leagues they want to follow.

Ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 kickoff in June, Apple has introduced several new tournament-focused features. This includes a tournament bracket view that offers a clean, scrollable overview of matchups and results from the group stage right up to the final.

Apple Sports is also adding visual formations for each team’s starting lineup through enhanced match cards, giving fans a clearer tactical overview before kickoff.

Users can choose to follow the entire tournament or just their favourite national teams. Once enabled, Live Activities will provide real-time match updates directly on the iPhone Lock Screen and Apple Watch.

Apple says users can also add Apple Sports widgets to their iPhone, iPad and Mac Home Screens for live tournament tracking. There’s also quick integration with the Apple TV app, allowing users to jump straight into supported streaming services to watch live matches.

Apple’s Vice President of Music, Sports, Apple TV, and Beats, Oliver Schusser said, “The World Cup unites fans across the globe, making it the ideal moment to bring Apple Sports to even more users. Apple Sports was designed to be fast and simple, giving fans an easy way to stay on top of scores, stats, and the action that matters most in real time.”

According to Apple, Live Activities require compatible devices running iOS 18 or later and watchOS 11 or later. Some streaming services may require a subscription, while availability and content may vary by country or region.

You can download the Apple Sports app for free via the App Store.
