Maxus eTerron 9 to debut at KLIMS 2026: All-wheel drive electric pickup with over 400km of range

Maxus eTerron 9 electric pickup will be making its official debut in Malaysia at the upcoming KL International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026. Its upcoming appearance at KLIMS was teased through social media by SAIC Maxus’ local partner, Weststar.

The official public appearance is a long time coming, considering that Weststar Maxus has periodically highlighted the electric pickup on its social media account since August last year. Not only that, we have even spotted it on the road ourselves last month, as shown in the image above.

Maxus eTerron 9 Quick Specs

According to SAIC Maxus’ global website, the eTerron 9 is the second EV pickup in its lineup after the T90 EV. Also known as the Interstellar X in China and MG P9 or U9 EV in certain international markets, the eTerron 9 features a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, whereas the T90 EV has a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup.

The front motor inside the eTerron 9 is capable of producing 125kW (168hp) together with 250Nm of torque. On the back, there’s also another 200kW (268hp) electric motor with a maximum torque of 450Nm.

SAIC Maxus also pointed out that the eTerron 9 can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.8 seconds and has a maximum speed of 190km/h. Equipped with rear multi-link suspension as well as air suspension, the electric pickup comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels and 275/55 R20 tyres.

Powered by a 102.2kWh LFP battery pack, SAIC Maxus claimed that the eTerron 9 can deliver a WLTP-rated range of 430km. As for charging, the international version can support a DC charging speed of up to 115kW, which allows it to be charged from 20% to 80 % of around 40 minutes.

The international variant has also been fitted with an 11kW 3-phase AC onboard charging module, and it takes around 12 hours to fully charge the eTerron 9 via AC charging. The electric pickup also features a 6.6kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, while there are also several 2.2kW power sockets readily available in its frunk and pickup bed.

With an overall length of 5,500mm, the eTerron 9 is longer than the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger Raptor. At 3,300mm, it also has a longer wheelbase than both models, but its width and height are rather average at 1,997mm and 1,874mm, respectively.

Capable of carrying a payload of up to 620kg, it also has a 236L frunk and a towing capacity of 3,500kg. The Chinese variant has a midgate feature which allows the cab’s rear wall to be lowered in order to extend the cargo space, but we doubt that this function is available on the international variant.

Inside, you can spot leather seats all around and electronic controllers for the front seats. Other notable interior features include a digital rear view mirror, a wireless charger, together with a 6 to 8-speaker audio system, a massage function for the driver, and a panoramic sunroof, depending on the trim options.

Safety-wise, 7 airbags are protecting the occupants of eTerron 9 together with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The ADAS suite provides features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK).
