BMW Group Malaysia supports ASEAN Malaysia Chairmanship 2025 with BMW i5 and i7 fleet

BMW Group Malaysia is supporting Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025 by providing a fleet of fully electric vehicles to the government. The move aims at reinforcing its role in advancing sustainable mobility across the region.

Throughout Malaysia’s tenure as the ASEAN Chair in 2025, the official fleet will feature its flagship all-electric BMW i7 xDrive60 M Sport and BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport.

According to BMW Group Malaysia, the collaboration aligns with the Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and supports the Chairmanship’s theme of “Inclusivity and Sustainability.” The EV fleet aims to serve as a visible example of Malaysia’s commitment to sustainability.

As the leading provider of premium EVs in Malaysia, BMW Group Malaysia says it will continue to support initiatives that champion sustainability and innovation through its comprehensive EV portfolio, strategic partnerships, and commitment to Technology Openness. It added that EVs present a critical step forward in reducing emissions and advancing the adoption of sustainable technologies across the ASEAN region.

The BMW i7 xDrive60 M Sport is a full-size fully electric sedan equipped with dual-motors pushing 400kW (536hp) and 745Nm of torque. The AWD sedan can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds, up to a top-speed of 240km/h. Equipped with a 101.7kWh battery, it has a WLTP-rated range of up to 624km.

Meanwhile, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport is a fully electric mid-sized sedan with a single rear motor pushing 250kW (335hp) and 400Nm of torque. It has a 0-100km/h time of 6 seconds, and it has a top-speed of 193km/h. The 81.2kWh battery provides up to 582km of WLTP-rated range on a single charge.
