Tenaga Nasional (TNB) customers were in shock earlier this week after noticing high energy consumption readings in the myTNB app that didn’t match their usual consumption habits. The energy company today said that the error has since been rectified.

According to a brief statement that TNB released on social media yesterday, the error was caused by a technical issue. The company also said that the error was limited to the graphs inside the app and didn’t affect the actual meter or billing readings.

TNB also disabled My Energy Budget features (L) until it managed to rectify the technical issue surrounding myTNB’s graphs.

To avoid further confusion among customers, TNB then decided to disable the graphs from being displayed to myTNB users. Fast forward to today, they are now available once again, just as TNB released its statement this morning.

The reaction among members of the public is understandable, as it was only a few days ago that the new electricity tariff structure was implemented in West Malaysia. Furthermore, it isn’t just a tariff update but a major overhaul of how energy consumption is being charged to consumers.

TNB has previously said that over 23 million consumers are guaranteed to remain unaffected by the new tariff structure. Hence, the recent graph error on the myTNB app may have caused some users to be concerned.
