Looking for an emission-free ride from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)? Grab Malaysia has rolled out its Electric MPV option from KLIA to the city.

The new EV option was spotted early this morning and it is offered for pick ups from KLIA Terminal 1.

For this EV service, Grab Malaysia is using the BYD M6, a popular fully-electric 7-seater that’s priced from RM109,800.

Ordering a BYD M6 EV from KLIA

To order your electric MPV ride from KLIA Terminal 1, you’ll need to select the EV Pickup zone which is located at arrival floor on Level 3 (Door 4). At the moment, the ride to KL city costs about RM134-RM136 depending on the destination.

According to the description, the 6-seater EV option has the capacity to accommodate 6 passengers with 2 hand-carry luggage or 4 passengers with 2 hand-carry luggage + 2 check-in luggage.

In terms of pricing, the 6-seater EV option costs a bit more than the petrol equivalent vehicles. As a comparison, the standard 6-seater MPVs (including Perodua Alza) which has similar passenger and luggage allowance is priced at RM105.

However, it is still cheaper than the Premium option (including Alphard/Vellfire) which is priced at RM200.

Take note that for non-EV Grab rides, the designed eHailing pick-up location is still at Level 1 of KLIA Terminal 1. At the time of writing, the EV service isn’t available for KLIA Terminal 2.

Back in March this year, Grab Malaysia appointed Yinson GreenTech as their EV leasing partner. Under the partnership, Yinson GreenTech will provide Grab with 10 units of the BYD M6 under a comprehensive leasing package along with competitive leasing rates, preferential charging rates and vehicle maintenance for Grab EVs. They will also provide fleet management tools, share insights on the EV’s performance and explore installation of EV charging stations at key locations.

In the Southeast Asian region, Grab has expanded its EV fleet especially in Thailand and Indonesia. It aims to have 50,000 EVs across six countries to meet its 2040 carbon neutrality target.

Early this year, Grab has entered a regional partnership with BYD covering multiple markets Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Under the partnership, Grab intends to add various models to its eHailing service including Denza D9, BYD Atto 3, BYD Seal and BYD M6.
