Putra Heights Fire: TM offers Unifi bill waiver and extended credit terms to affected customers

TM has announced several initiatives to support Unifi customers affected by the recent Putra Heights disaster. The fire disaster which happened on the second day of Hari Raya was caused by a leak in a Petronas gas pipeline. Besides expediting network restoration, the broadband giant aims to offer customers relief which include a minimum of one month Unifi bill waivers and extended credit terms.

TM says it acknowledges the difficulties faced by those affected and how important it is to stay connected during a crisis. To support affected customers, they offer the following relief and recovery measures:

  • Unifi Home Bill Waiver – Minimum one month to ease financial burden
  • Extended Credit Terms – Up to 60 days with no service suspension
  • Free replacement of Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) which include routers, modems or mesh devices
  • Priority Customer Support – Fast Track Assistance via 100 for Unifi Home and SME customers. This includes free on-site support (OSS) and standard internal wiring
  • Upgraded WiFi speed and enhanced mobile connectivity – TM is providing complimentary WiFi access at temporary evacuation centres (PPS) and stronger uninterrupted communication and continued access to essential services.

According to TM, their technical teams are ready and committed to immediately restore services and rebuild any affected network infrastructure in stages, based on the severity of the damage. It added that restoration works will commence as soon as clearance is granted by BOMBA and the relevant authorities.

In addition, Yayasan TM will be extending humanitarian aid and providing essential supplies to affected families through the GLC Demi Rakyat & Negara (GDRN) collective efforts.

TM Group Chief Executive Officer Amar Huzaimi Md Deris said, “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to everyone affected by this incident. We are mobilising all necessary resources to restore services swiftly and provide immediate relief to our impacted customers and communities. We are fully committed to ensuring that these efforts are carried out efficiently and with urgency, in close coordination with the relevant authorities.”
