In conjunction with the upcoming Aidilfitri, all Malaysians will receive at least 5GB of free data on the first Raya through Insentif Rebat Rahmah. The new incentive was revealed by the Communications Minister, Fahmi Fadzil, during a press conference at the Ministry of Communications today.
The free data will be delivered to both prepaid and postpaid customers. Participating telcos include CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, Unifi Mobile, Yes, Pavocomms, Tune Talk, redONE, REDtone and XOX.
If you have both prepaid and postpaid accounts, only one of your accounts will receive the free data, according to the FAQ that was published on the ministry’s website. The FAQ also said that the free data will be delivered automatically into the user’s quota, although this is still subjected to the telco’s terms and conditions.
The free data will have at least a 24-hour validity period. Fahmi said that further clarifications can be obtained from the participating telcos, although we have yet to see any FAQs from them at the time this news was published.
Earlier this week, the Ministry of Communications also announced Insentif Rebat Rahmah for the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as part of the 218th Police Day celebration. The one-off incentive covers the monthly postpaid commitment for 1 month, while there is also at least RM30 worth of rebates for police officers with prepaid accounts.
