ChargEV has deployed one of the largest EV charging hubs along the North South Expressway in Johor. Not only this serves as an ideal EV charging stop for EV drivers travelling between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, the new charging hub is also designed to accommodate electric commercial lorries.

We’ve been given an early preview of the charging hub ahead of its official opening and here’s what they have on site.

The ChargEV EV charging hub is located at Tangkak Pitstop which is less than a km away from the Tangkak Toll Plaza and is accessible from both northbound and southbound traffic. For this location, ChargEV has deployed a Kempower DC charging solution with dynamic load balancing. There are a total of 8 charging bays and there’s room to add more DC charging points as demand increases.

Unlike most EV charging locations that are designed for passenger cars, this site is designed to cater for commercial and electric trucks serving the KL to Singapore route. Tangkak Pitstop also has a food court, surau and toilet operated by Majlis Daerah Tangkak.

At the moment, this EV charging location isn’t open to the public yet. Once it is fully operational, the DC chargers are priced at RM1.60 per kWh. If you’ve subscribed to ChargEV’s yearly plan membership, you can enjoy 50% off.

The ChargEV Charging Hub at Tangkak is a great alternative to the current Gentari EV Charging Hub located at Petronas Bandar Baru Ayer Hitam in Johor, which is also located close to the North South Expressway.

In case you missed it, ChargEV is partnering with eLoaded to deploy large scale DC charging hubs. One of its upcoming EV charging sites is at Elmina Lakeside Mall which has 16x DC charging points.
