Pro-Net recently revealed that you only need to service the new Proton e.MAS 7 EV once per year or every 20,000km after its initial service at 5,000km or 3 months mark. However, the cost has not yet been listed on Proton e.MAS website at the moment.
Naturally, we immediately reached out to Pro-Net to obtain more details. As it turned out, the estimated cost of periodic service items for Proton e.MAS is only RM2,500 over a period of 10 years.
As noted in our previous report, there are only four items listed on Proton e.MAS 7 service schedule:
While the estimated cost is quite low, Pro-Net did not provide a breakdown of this item list to us. Hence, we do not know what is the actual price for each of them at the moment.
In addition to that, the figure we mentioned above does not include the labour fee. While Pro-Net has told us that the labour fee is RM90 per hour, the specific labour hours involved at each service interval were not revealed to us. Furthermore, tax is not included in the calculation as well.
On a related note, Pro-Net is planning to put up the service fee estimator on the e.MAS website within Q1 of 2025. This estimator already existed for Proton’s ICE vehicles on Proton’s official website which proved to be quite useful.
Even though we may not have the breakdown for e.MAS 7 service items at the moment, it can still be used to compare with traditional ICE models. Once again, we are using the 2024 Proton X70 as the benchmark since it is competing in the same C-segment SUV market as per e.MAS 7.
Based on our calculations, the total cost of parts for X70’s periodic service over a period of 10 years not inclusive of labour fees and tax is RM9,137.42. When compared to the e.MAS 7, that figure is almost four times more than the EV.
As you can tell, the reason behind the lower service cost for e.MAS 7 is due to the fact that an EV has far fewer components than an ICE vehicle. After all, an EV has no engine oil, spark plugs, transmission oil, timing belt, drive belt, oil filter, or fuel filter to replace.
