One of Honor’s latest foldable smartphones, the Honor Magic V3, has been launched here in Malaysia. Essentially a challenger to foldables like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, it’s offered in a single variant only for our market.

Honor Magic V3 Malaysia price and availability

Succeeding the Magic V2, the Honor Magic V3 is priced from RM6,999 here in Malaysia with a sole variant available:

  • Honor Magic V3 (12GB + 512GB) – RM6,999

You can purchase the Magic V3 on Honor’s official online store, as well as its official stores on Lazada and Shopee. From now till 12th September 2024, you will get free gifts worth RM2,896 when you pre-order the Magic V3. This includes Honor’s 365-day screen protection, an Honor Watch 4, an Honor Magic Pen, and an Honor SuperCharge Wireless Charger Stand.

Honor Magic V3 specs and features

One aspect of the Honor Magic V3 that might catch your eye is its thickness, or rather, thinness. When folded, it measures just 9.2mm thin, 0.7mm thinner than the Magic V2, and 2.9mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It’s also the lightest among the three devices mentioned above, weighing just 226g, as compared to the Magic V2 at 231g, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 at 239g.

Opening up the Honor Magic V3, you will find a 7.92″ 120Hz LTPO Full HD+ (2344 x 2156 pixels) that boasts PWM dimming of 3830Hz and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. The cover on the other hand sports a 6.43″ 120Hz Full HD+ OLED display with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. Both displays come with stylus support. Underneath the “hood” of the Honor Magic V3 in Malaysia is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, mated to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

On the imaging side of things, the Honor Magic V3 features a tri-camera setup at the back. This consists of a 50MP f/1.6 main shooter, a 50MP f/3.0 periscope telephoto lens that’s capable of delivering 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom, and a 40MP f/2.2 wide-angle camera. Both displays each get a 20MP f/2.2 front camera for selfies and video calls.

Like many flagship smartphones these days, the Magic V3 comes with Honor’s AI suite, powered by Google. This includes AI Face-to-Face Translation, AI Honor Notes, AI Eraser, Magic Portal (Circle to do more), and so on.

For better peace of mind, the foldable is rated with IPX8 a feature its predecessors did not have, making it water resistant for up to 2.5 metres deep and 30 minutes long. There is also a dual stereo speaker setup for you to enjoy your content with.

Powering the Honor Magic V3 is a 5,150mAh battery that supports 66W fast wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging. Software-wise, the foldable smartphone runs on MagicOS 8.0.1, which is based on Android 14.
