BJAK Road Tax Renewal Service

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has no problem having BJAK as a strategic partner with the Road Transport Department (JPJ). However, according to the Transport Minister Anthony Loke, the online insurance aggregator must go through the official process.

BJAK must come forward and present a proposal

Anthony said that the authorities have noticed BJAK’s aggressive campaigns and worried that it would confuse the public if they didn’t act. Hence, that is why JPJ issued a statement last week which said that neither JPJ nor MOT have given any approvals for BJAK to operate a road tax renewal service.

So, this is something that I’m sure the company must come forward and to present a proposal. If they can convince us to become our strategic partner, we have no objection to that. But we must go through the process.

Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Transport Minister.

The statement from JPJ has also highlighted how BJAK has imposed additional fees on customers for the service. In addition to that, the regulator also said that some customers found out that the expiry date on their road tax remained the same after using BJAK’s renewal service.

BJAK responded a few hours later by saying it acknowledged all the issues raised by JPJ. In the same statement, the company also announced that its road tax renewal service can now be obtained free of charge.

Despite the remark made by JPJ and Anthony Loke, BJAK’s road tax renewal service is currently still running as usual. At the moment, JPJ has only three official strategic partners regarding road tax renewal service, including Pos Malaysia, MyEG, and Puspakom.
