The first big car news of 2024 is the continuation of the last vehicle launch of 2023, the Honda CR-V. The sixth-generation family SUV offers more space and practically inside while adding in more tech that Malaysians look out for. Now the CR-V e:HEV RS is officially available, offering greater efficiency for those looking for it.

Honda CR-V e:HEV RS Malaysia pricing

The new hybrid model is officially priced as follows:

  • Honda R-V e:HEV RS – RM 195,900

The hybrid powertrain expands the CR-V lineup in Malaysia and joins the previously announced petrol variants, which are priced below:

  • Honda CR-V 1.5T S – RM159,900
  • Honda CR-V 1.5T E – RM169,900
  • Honda CR-V 1.5T V AWD – RM181,900

Honda CR-V e:HEV RS delivers daily driving efficiency

Unlike the other CR-V variants, the HEV variant is powered by a new generation 2.0L e:HEV powertrain. There is a 2.0-litre direct-injected petrol engine which produces 146hp and 190Nm of power. Additionally, an electric motor is also paired to the engine that delivers up to 335Nm of torque and 181hp of maximum power. An Electric Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT) is paired with the engine in a new framework for better long-term fuel efficiency.

Built on a revised platform that also underpins the latest Civic, the new CR-V e:HEV RS benefits from a stiffer body shell and rear subframe, along with a lightweight aluminium front subframe and retuned dampers and steering to improve its ride and handling.

Increased noise insulation has also been fitted, working together with the improved active noise cancellation that features an additional mic and a dedicated speaker inside the car.

Larger and more mature styling

Like the other variants, the CR-V e:HEV RS is larger than the previous generation, with a greater road presence on the road thanks to the extra 80mm length and 40mm longer wheelbase. This variant gets its Full LED Headlights and Taillights, Front LED Sequential Turn Signals, Active Cornering Lights, a Tailpipe Chrome Finisher, Front Grille with a bold Mesh Pattern and Berlina Black 18-inch Alloy Wheels.

A useful feature of the e:HEV variant is the Active Shutter Grille which enhances the aerodynamics and fuel efficiency of the model.

Practical and safe to boot

Like the petrol variants, the e:HEV variant has a massive 589 litres of boot space as well as up to nine litres of storage underneath the centre armrest. There is also a new hands-free powered tailgate that automatically closes as you walk away.

Inside, the driver side gets an 8-way Driver Power Seat with two-position memory settings plus a sliding rear seat with eight levels of recline for the back passengers. For entertainment you get a 9-inch Advanced Display Audio with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity and a Bose Premium Sound System with 12 Speakers.

Other useful features include a Smart Key Card, Head Up Display (HUD), a Wireless Charger, two USB Ports in the front & rear, and a 10.2inch TFT instrument cluster.

Safety is Honda Malaysia’s main concern, and hence why the CR-V e:HEV RS comes with a slew of safety features. The comprehensive safety package comprises a total of eight Airbags with the inclusion of two Knee Airbags, a Multi-View Camera System (360-degree Camera), Honda LaneWatch and Honda CONNECT. The All-New CR-V e:HEV RS now has nine Honda SENSING functions with the inclusion of an Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB).
