Maxis has announced it has extended its access agreement with TM to tap into its high-speed broadband (HSBB) network and services until 2029. According to Maxis, the extension enables them to continue to access TM’s national fibre network to provide competitive fixed broadband offerings and value-added services.

Maxis taps on TM HSBB since 2010 to expand its fibre footprint

Besides Maxis’ own-build fibre network, tapping on TM HSBB helps Maxis to expand its fibre broadband reach to more premises nationwide. At the moment, Maxis has over 700,000 fibre broadband subscriptions covering homes and businesses in Malaysia. In addition to providing HSBB access, TM’s premium services include additional requirements that help Maxis better serve their customers and improve efficiency, which include one-stop connectivity and digital solutions offerings for enterprise customers.

Maxis’ partnership with TM for fibre broadband started in 2010 when it signed a 10-year access agreement. At the time, Maxis was the first telco to sign an HSBB access agreement with TM. To expand its fibre footprint further, Maxis has also signed access agreements with Celcom Timur in Sabah, SACOFA in Sarawak and TNB’s Allo in Peninsular Malaysia.

Commenting on the extension, Maxis CEO Goh Seow Eng said “We are pleased to extend and deepen our partnership with TM to further drive broadband adoption for the nation. The partnership in conjunction with our own extensive fibre network and core mobile business allows us to deploy our resources more efficiently and effectively so we are able to place greater focus on customer experience. This is in line with our integrated telco strategy of fulfilling all our customers’ connectivity needs.”

Meanwhile, TM Group CEO Amar Huzaimi Md Deris said “TM is the ideal partner to catalyse Access Seeker’s broadband aspirations whilst at the same time advancing Malaysia’s digital ambitions. Through our domestic fibre infrastructure, we are paving the way for a digital era that embraces sustainability, accelerated economic growth and community upliftment. TM is the backbone of the nation’s core connectivity with its pervasive domestic fibre coverage complemented by its vast international submarine cables connectivity that connects the world to Malaysia.”

Maxis Home Fibre now offers up to 2Gbps

Maxis has recently revised its fibre broadband pricing with Maxis Home Fibre offering 100Mbps for RM89/month (Normal: RM99/month), while the highest 2Gbps Home Fibre offering is going for RM319/month. Meanwhile, Maxis Business Fibre now starts with 100Mbps going for RM99/month (Normal: RM119/month), while the highest 1Gbps option is going for RM299/month. Maxis has also offered a free speed upgrade but only for fibre customers on 100Mbps plan and above.
