Maybank2u and MAE app experienced service disruptions for hours

[ UPDATE 9:30 PM ] Maybank has begun informing customers that the Maybank2u and MAE app services are now back to normal. However, the bank didn’t explain why the disruptions happened in the first place.

===

Maybank customers have been experiencing issues accessing the bank’s online banking services for the past few hours. This applies to both Maybank2u’s website and the MAE mobile app.

Throngs of disgruntled users have reached out to Maybank through Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) demanding answers from the bank. While its customer service agents did acknowledge the disruptions in some of the replies to customers’ comments and tweets, there seemed to be two different answers:

One version focused specifically on the Instant Transfer feature.
Another version noted the disruption as a general incident.

Meanwhile, we have also noticed that a general disruption notice has since appeared on the MAE app:

As captured at 4:53 PM today.

Nevertheless, none of these messages and notices have provided any estimated time for recovery so far. In addition to that, Maybank has not released any formal statement regarding today’s disruptions so far.

We are keeping a close look at the situation and will keep you updated once we hear more. So, stay tuned.
