Gentari is currently deploying more DC fast chargers at Petronas stations along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the latest addition is at Petronas Solaris Seri Kembangan. This EV charging location is located just 5km southbound from the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza and right before the UPM exit. This is an ideal stop to top up your EV before heading to Seremban, Melaka or Johor Bahru.
Similar to the recent deployment at Petronas Ulu Bernam Southbound, Gentari has installed a Kempower DC charging solution with three CCS2 nozzles. Take note, these EV chargers are only accessible from the PLUS highway side and not from the Besraya side. The location has several F&B options such as Subway, KFC, Starbucks and Tealive.
Unlike your typical Kempower DC charging site with multiple satellite units, this charging location currently doesn’t support dynamic power sharing and it is priced based on time instead of kWh consumed.
The Petronas Solaris Seri Kembangan charging location is listed with a 150kW DC charger with three CCS2 nozzles. However, the power output is limited up to 60kW each and is priced at RM1.40 per minute. As a comparison, the Petronas Ulu Bernam Southbound chargers are priced at RM1.50 per kWh.
Assuming your EV can get a consistent 60kW, a quick 10-minute top-up (about 10kWh) will cost you RM14 while a 30-minute top-up (about 30kWh) will cost you RM42.
From the looks of it, the chargers at this location could be pending EVSE licence approval from ST (Energy Commission) which is required in order to charge users based on kWh instead of time. We expect these chargers to be reconfigured for dynamic power sharing once it switches to kWh-based pricing. This would enable a more efficient power distribution while enabling a single EV to enjoy a higher charging rate when other nozzles are not in use.
