KESAS and SMART Tunnel can accept MyDebit, Credit and Debit Cards for toll payments

Besides SPRINT and LDP, motorists can also use their credit and debit cards for toll payments on the KESAS highway and SMART Tunnel. The acceptance of these additional payment cards is part of an ongoing trial to implement the open payment system which provides payment alternatives to Touch ‘n Go, SmartTAG and RFID.

During the open payment system trial period, there will be one test lane at the toll plaza as shown above. As you approach the toll plaza, do look out for the test lane which has the MyDebit, Visa and Mastercard logo on the signage. If you plan to use your payment cards for toll payments, do have them on standby before you start your journey. Do note that American Express (AMEX) cards are not accepted.

The NFC card terminals are installed alongside the normal TNG terminals. To use your credit, debit or prepaid cards, just tap on the card terminal (on the right) as shown above. These terminals installed on Litrak-managed highways typically come with a large LCD display that shows the toll payment amount.

Litrak Group has also tweeted a friendly reminder for all motorists to ensure that their contactless payment feature is enabled for their card. This can be managed from their online banking app to allow contactless Visa Paywave or Mastercard PayPass payments.

With the addition of KESAS and SMART, there are now a total of 5 highways with open payment system trials which also includes MEX Highway, SPRINT and LDP. Take note that the credit, debit and prepaid cards will only work on the card terminals installed at the test lane and it won’t work on the SmartTAG lane.
