You can now share your screen during a WhatsApp video call

While WhatsApp is traditionally seen as the app for ‘texting’ more than anything else, you could soon be doing a full PowerPoint presentation to your boss and colleagues on the platform. The Meta-owned instant messaging platform has now revealed that they’re releasing the ability to share your screen during a video call on WhatsApp, with the feature previously stuck in beta.

This means that WhatsApp joins the likes of Microsoft, Google and Zoom when it comes to video conferencing apps, with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself showing off the feature to the world on his Facebook page:

Screen sharing on WhatsApp will let you share your documents, photos and more with others in the call. When you’re in a video call with others, you’ll see an option to share your screen by clicking on the share icon, with the option to show others either your entire screen or just that of a specific app.

On top of screen sharing, WhatsApp is also now introducing support for landscape mode video calls too on Android and iOS, which should make it much easier to share your screen during a video call if you’re not on the desktop app.

According to TechCrunch, WhatsApp has confirmed with them that these new features have already begun rolling out for WhatsApp users on Android, iOS and their Windows desktop app. You might not see the screen sharing option immediately as it’s being released in phases, but it shouldn’t be too long before you too can present your files to others on WhatsApp.
