A new batch of Lego models has just arrived in Malaysia which include the Lego Technic Audi RS Q e-tron. Unlike other automotive-themed Lego models that are part of this month’s release, this replica of the hybrid rally raid machine comes with remote control functionality.
Owners can control the model by using the Control+ mobile app which works together with its input hub via Bluetooth. As opposed to the adult-oriented Yamaha MT-10 SP that has also just made its way to our market, this 914-piece set is designed for kids aged 10 and above.

Similar to the real-life rally machine, the Lego Technic Audi RS Q e-tron model comes with three motors together with independent suspensions on each of its four wheels. Lego has also created a brand-new wheel element to accompany the new model that is based on the design that Audi uses on the life-size race vehicle.
The Lego Technic replica has quite a footprint as well since it measures over 15cm high, 37cm long, and 19cm wide. When it comes to pricing, the Lego Technic Audi RS Q e-tron can now be obtained in Malaysia for RM799.

As for the real-life vehicle itself, Audi essentially uses the RS Q e-tron as a test laboratory. Hence, the company continuously make changes to the rally raid machine since the original version was introduced in 2022.
In its current form, the RS Q e-tron features two electric motor-generator units (MGUs) that were sourced from the Audi e-tron FE07 Formula E car with some minor modifications. Audi claimed that the rally machine has a combined output of 263kW (358hp) and can go from 0 to 100km/h in less than 4.5 seconds but did not reveal its torque rating.

Since Dakar Rally is not exactly an event where you can easily find an EV charger and the fact that the RS Q e-tron also has a rather small 52kWh battery, Audi has added another MGU to recharge the battery when the rally car is on the move. To do this, the MGU works hand-in-hand with a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged TFSI engine that Audi designed for the DTM racing series.
So far, the RS Q e-tron has survived Dakar Rally for the past two years and the German automaker is currently prepping it for another outing next year. The purpose-built machine has also won the 2022 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge with 14-time Dakar Rally winner Stéphane Peterhansel as well as Edouard Boulanger at the helm.
