Move aside, Threads. TikTok now also lets its users “tweet”

Barely a month after Meta introduces Threads, here comes a new X (formerly known as Twitter) competitor from TikTok. Simply called “Text posts” TikTok users can now express themselves in plain text format.

According to TikTok, creators are able to make content in various formats from Live stream videos to photos, Duets to Stitch. With text, content creators can share their stories, poems, recipes and other written content on TikTok, giving them more options to express themselves and making it easier to create.

To create a tweet text post, just go to the camera page and you’ll see three options – photo, video and text. When you tap on text, you’ll go to a text creation page where you can compose your message. To spice things up, you can add sounds, location tagging, enable comments or allow Duets. TikTok says it is allowing users to make the post as dynamic and interactive as any video or photo post.

As you would expect, TikTok allows users to add Stickers, tags and hashtags, change background colours, and incorporate sounds. Similar to photos and videos, if you need more time to pen down your thoughts and ideas, you can always save drafts and edit them later. If you don’t want to proceed, you can discard them at any time.
