TNG Digital has announced that its Touch ‘n Go eWallet now enables more than 20 million users a seamless payment experience when they travel to popular destinations in mainland China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia. Besides integrating with Alipay+’s cross-border solutions since 2022, Touch ‘n Go eWallet also supported cross-border DuitNow QR payments with Singapore’s NETS QR, Thailand’s PromptPay and Indonesia’s QRIS.

Prior to this, Touch ‘n Go eWallet users can make cross-border payments across Alipay+ merchant network worldwide and it is also the first Malaysian-based eWallet to be supported in mainland China. The list of supported countries has been expanded which now includes Singapore, Thailand, Macau, Philippines, Australia and more. According to TNG Digital, the cross-border payment expansion demonstrates Touch ‘n Go eWallet and Alipay+’s commitment to enhance convenience for both users and businesses, fostering seamless transactions across borders.

It was also announced this year that Touch ‘n Go eWallet is also accepted by over 10 million Alipay merchants in mainland China via the Alipay+ network. Take note that the feature won’t work with legacy Alipay merchants and it doesn’t support peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers due to regulatory reasons.

The next time you’re travelling overseas, just look out for one of the signs above to use your Touch ‘n Go eWallet. To make a payment, take note that there are two ways to do so:

How to pay using Alipay+?

If you’re paying at an Alipay+ merchant, the shop will need to scan your QR code. Here’s how to make a payment:

  1. Launch Touch ‘n Go eWallet
  2. Tap on “Pay” icon on the home screen
  3. Swipe up to pay abroad with Alipay+
  4. Select the country (Exchange rate will be displayed)
  5. Show the QR code to the merchant to scan
  6. Payment is complete

How to pay on NETS, PromptPay and QRIS?

If you want to pay using Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia’s national QR codes (NETS, Promptpay, QRIS), the process is similar to scanning a DuitNow QR in Malaysia. Here’s how:

  1. Launch Touch ‘n Go eWallet
  2. Tap on “Scan” icon and scan the merchant’s QR code
  3. Enter amount to pay
  4. Check the amount and tap on Confirm to pay
  5. Payment is complete

Besides QR payments, Touch ‘n Go eWallet also offers a physical Touch ‘n Go Visa card which lets you make payments where credit and debit cards are accepted. The Touch ‘n Go Visa card with Paywave is accepted at all Visa touchpoints and you can also use it to withdraw cash at a local ATM under the Visa network.
