Tenaga Nasional’s (TNB) electric vehicle charging network TNB Electron will be offering free charging at its DC fast chargers in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays, making it easier for EV owners to drive back to their hometowns.
Users won’t have to pay anything from 19 to 21 April and on 24 April—the same days as the toll waiver announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today. They’ll have to use the Go To-U app to activate these chargers and use them.
The TNB Electron network currently consists of three chargers, two of which (R&R Tapah Northbound and Ayer Keroh Northbound) are on the North-South Highway. The other, located at the R&R Paka Northbound in Terengganu, serves the East Coast Expressway (ECE).
These stations are now open 24 hours a day, so you’ll be able to charge no matter what time you’re on the road. To be clear, this promotion does not include DC chargers at Auto Bavaria, BYD, Jaguar and Sime Darby Auto Selection installed by TNB subsidiary TNBX.
The company started applying a fee for using its DC chargers on 1 March, billing users on a per-minute basis. Depending on DC charging output, you had to pay RM2.05 per minute at an 80kW charger, RM2.20 per minute at a 90kW charger and RM2.35 per minute for a 100kW charger. It plans to expand its network to include six more rest stops by the end of the year, including:
