A few weeks on after teasing it—and six months after Time—Telekom Malaysia is finally fighting back with not one, but two new ultra high-speed broadband packages. TM Unifi’s website now has offerings for both 1Gbps and 2Gbps home fibre broadband plans; they previously only offered up to 800Mbps speeds.

That being said, Unifi’s options will cost you quite a bit. The new 2Gbps plan is priced at RM459/month, with a current introductory price of RM399/month. The 1Gbps plan meanwhile is priced at RM409/month, with a current introductory price of RM349/month. You will however be getting quite a number of extra features such as access to multiple streaming apps and their Unifi TV.

In the new 2Gbps plan, Unifi is offering unlimited broadband with download speeds of up to 2Gbps and upload speeds of 1Gbps. That upload speed by the way is double of what Time can offer, with their 2Gbps plan capping out at 500Mbps upload speeds. Unifi’s 1Gbps plan meanwhile offers download speeds of up to 1Gbps and upload speeds of up to 500Mbps. However, take note that Unifi’s 2Gbps offering is actually a 2x 1Gbps connection as the advertised 2Gbps is aggregated. Both will require you to sign up for a 24-month contract.

Those who do sign up for one of these two new plans will be able to get an included certified WiFi 6 optical network router, a WiFi 6 certified mesh, free 600 minutes of talk time to all mobile and fixed lines nationwide, with Unifi promising next day installation service too. The internet service provider is guaranteeing that any internet disruption will be restored within 12 business hours too.

On top of that, you’ll get a Unifi Plus Box allowing you to access their Ultimate Pack subscription tier with 70+ channels. You’ll also get access to seven different streaming platforms, namely Disney+ Hotstar, BBC Player, beIN SPORTS CONNECT, Lionsgate Play, SPOTV NOW, SIAR and Unifi PlayTV.

At the moment, there’s no way to subscribe to Unifi’s 1Gbps and 2Gbps offerings without their entertainment package bundled into the plan. The fastest standalone Unifi Home plan continues to be its 800Mbps plan, priced at RM299/month, though at the moment Unifi is offering a free upgrade to 800Mbps speeds even if you sign up for the 500Mbps plan at RM209/month. It’s also worth noting that the 800Mbps broadband + entertainment bundle is priced at RM349/month too, the same as the introductory price of their 1Gbps plan.

If you don’t need the additional Unifi TV option and streaming services bundled along, you could look at Time’s offerings instead—that is assuming they provide coverage at your location. Compared to Unifi, Time’s 1Gbps and 2Gbps plans are considerably cheaper, priced at RM199/month and RM379/month respectively. Of course, you do lose out on the entertainment package bundled along with Unifi’s high speed broadband plans.
