Oppo Find X6 and Find X6 Pro: 1-inch camera sensor, up to 2,500 nits display brightness, only for China

Oppo has revealed the latest versions of its Find X series of flagship smartphones, and this time it has truly pushed the boat out. The company has thrown the kitchen sink at the Find X6 and the Find X6 Pro in particular, which is why it’s disappointing they’re not currently tipped for a global release.

“Triple main camera” setup

Oppo’s claim that its Hasselblad-branded Find X6 models feature a “triple main camera” setup is a little far-fetched, but not by much. Both phones make heavy use of the 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX890 sensor, which is used on the OnePlus 11‘s main camera, so there’s some truth there.

You’ll find it in the telephoto camera (with a 64mm-equivalent f/2.6 periscope lens), the Find X6’s wide camera (with a 24mm-equivalent f/1.8 lens) and the Find X6 Pro’s ultra-wide camera (with a 15mm-equivalent f/2.2 lens). On the Find X6, the ultra-wide has an 1/2.76-inch sensor and an f/2.0 aperture instead, while the selfie camera on both phones is a 32MP unit with an f/2.4 aperture.

But the Find X6 Pro’s wide camera jumps on the bandwagon that already includes the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and 13 Pro and the Vivo X90 Pro, featuring the same 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor as those phones. With a 23mm-equivalent f/1.8 lens, the device is claimed to be able to absorb more light than any other smartphone on the market.

Additionally, the Find X6 series is able to use a 12.5MP crop of the telephoto camera’s 50MP sensor to provide an “optical-quality” 6x zoom, leveraging a technique used by the iPhone 14 Pro and Google Pixel 7 Pro’s main cameras.

Meanwhile, the revised MariSilicon X AI-driven image signal processor (ISP) uses deep fusion technology on RAW image data, which Oppo says improves image clarity by 30% and reduces noise by 60%; there’s also the 13-channel spectral sensor from the OnePlus 11. Also shared with the OnePlus 11 is the Hasselblad Portrait Mode, which simulates the bokeh of the German camera maker’s XCD30 and XCD80 lenses.

Super-bright displays

Large curved displays sit at the front of both Find X6 models, starting with the base model’s 6.74-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2,772×1,240 pixels, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 1,100 nits of brightness and a peak brightness of 1,450 nits.

The Pro’s larger 6.82-inch touchscreen bumps up the resolution to 1440p (3,168×1,440 pixels), features LTPO technology to drop the refresh rate down to just 1Hz, boosts brightness to 1,500 nits and dials up the maximum brightness to a whopping 2,500 nits (!). It’s also covered in Gorilla Glass Victus 2 (matching the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra) for superior drop resistance.

Range-topping chips, large batteries

The Find X6 and Find X6 Pro has access to range-topping chips, with the Pro version unsurprisingly powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and the Find X6 utilising the MediaTek Dimensity 9200. Both come with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

All this is juiced by a 4,800mAh battery in the Find X6 and 5,000mAh unit in the Find X6 Pro. Both phones come with SuperVOOC charging rated at 80W for the Find X6 and 100W for the Pro. Despite this, the latter also gets 50W wireless charging, which is sadly missing on the regular X6.

Water resistance only on the Find X6 Pro

Both Find X6 models carry an IP rating, but the base model’s IP64 rating means it’s only splash resistant; you’ll have to step up to the Pro for an IP68 rating for water resistance. Other features include 5G and WiFi 7 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, an in-display fingerprint sensor, face unlock and double diaphragm stereo speakers.

The phones even feature active noise cancellation to counteract earpiece audio leakage, preventing your calls from being heard by others. The Find X6 series ships with ColorOS 13.1, and you can expect up to four years of major OS updates and five years of security patches, as is the case with selected Oppo devices launched this year.

Vegan leather option with DSLR-inspired design

Sporting a large circular camera bump that’s all the rage these days, the Find X6 is available in either matte green, matte gold or gloss black. For the Find X6 Pro, both green and black options are textured, but the gold is replaced by a tan vegan leather option, contrasting against the silver top half. Choosing this colour scheme also nets you an etched camera ring inspired by DSLRs, incorporating some knurling and an orange dot reminiscent of the alignment marks on interchangeable-lens cameras.

Only available in China

In China, the Find X6 is priced at RMB4,499 (around RM2,911) with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and RMB4,999 (around RM3,235) with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Meanwhile, the Find X6 Pro retails at RMB5,999 (around RM3,881) with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, RMB6,499 (around RM4,205) with 16GB of RAM and RMB6,999 (around RM4,529) with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Although Oppo has stopped short of saying so officially, there are rumours that the Find X6 series will be exclusive to the Middle Kingdom, deviating from previous Find X models. That’s a shame, as the Find X6 Pro looks to have moved the game on significantly from the Find X5 Pro.
