MRT Putrajaya Line: First impressions of newly-opened Phase 2

Last Thursday marked the launch of Phase 2 of the MRT Putrajaya Line. It finally connects the rail service to the namesake administrative capital, adding 38.7km and 24 stations to complete the 57.7km journey.

Initially serving the northern areas of Sungai Buloh, Kepong and Sentul, the line now extends southwards along Jalan Ipoh, cuts through the city centre and then passes through Jalan Sungai Besi and Besraya highway. It then passes through Serdang and Cyberjaya before finally terminating at Putrajaya Sentral.

The Putrajaya Line is the second MRT service in the Klang Valley, after the Kajang Line. It interchanges with the latter at the Kwasa Damansara and Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) stations—and has connections with practically every rail service in the city—furthering the reach of RapidKL’s network. The best part? It’s currently free until March 31, after which a full ride from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya Sentral will cost up to RM6.90.
