Digi Prepaid Next 40: “Unlimited” internet and calls with 10GB hotspot for RM40/month

Besides introducing its Postpaid Infinite 55 and 75 plans, Digi has announced its “unlimited” plan on prepaid which offers “unlimited” data and calls for as low as RM40/month. To sweeten the deal, Digi is also offering extra hotspot data which is more than most “unlimited” prepaid plans in the market.

The plan which costs RM40/month comes with unlimited internet that has a speed cap of 6Mbps. Also included are unlimited calls to all networks in Malaysia. Digi is also offering 10GB of extra hotspot quota but this is only provided if you activate the plan with auto-renewal. If you need more hotspot, you can purchase 20GB of hotspot data for RM15.

The plan is now available on the Digi online store and existing Digi prepaid customers can also activate the Prepaid Next 40 plan via the MyDigi App under “Buy Add-ons”.

At the time of writing, Digi has not updated its Prepaid Next FAQ and T&C to include the new Prepaid Next 40 plan. We reckon there should be a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) which puts a hard cap on the “unlimited” data quota before your actual speeds are throttled down. We will update this post once we have more details on the FUP.

[ UPDATE 4/10/2022 12:12 ] According to Digi, the Prepaid Next 40 has an FUP of 300GB. That’s 3x the quota of U Mobile U35’s 100GB FUP and 6x the quota of Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited’s 50GB FUP.

For users that don’t want speed caps, the slightly cheaper option is Digi Next 35 at RM35/month which offers 30GB of high-speed data with unlimited calls to all networks. You can also get unlimited social plus 3GB of extra hotspot quota if you enable auto-renewal for the plan. You can explore more prepaid options in our Best Prepaid Plans in Malaysia guide September edition.
