HP Spectre x360 13.5 Malaysia: 2-in-1 laptop with 12th-gen Intel Core i7, priced from RM7,199

Today, HP launched the new Spectre x360 in Malaysia, updating its 2-in-1 laptop offering. As its name suggests, the device features a touchscreen that rotates 360 degrees to form a tablet. Built on the Intel Evo platform, it features the latest 12th-generation Core i7 processor.

HP Spectre x360 Malaysia pricing and availability

Two models are being made available for the Malaysian market, with the only difference being the display and resolution. The pricing is as follows:

  • 14-ef0001TU (1920×1280 IPS display) – RM7,199
  • 14-ef0000TU (3000×2000 OLED display) – RM7,599

Both laptops are available from all authorised reseller partners and through the official Lazada and Shopee stores. They come with a two-year local onsite warranty and one year of international coverage, plus a one-year limited battery warranty. For a limited time, the Spectre x360 13.5 is also being offered with up to RM1,500 worth of accessories.

These include a HP M22f Full HD monitor, a HP Bluetooth Headset 500, a HP Dual Mode mouse, two years of accidental damage protection, Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021 pre-installed, Kaspersky Internet Security and a Touch ‘n Go eWallet or GrabPay voucher worth up to RM200 (the latter only available until July 31).

HP Spectre x360 specs

The Spectre x360 13.5 represents an incremental upgrade over last year’s Spectre x360 14, with a mildly-revised aluminium design that features more rounded edges and no more contrasting sides. Our market only gets the Nocturne Blue colourway with Celestial Blue accents.

The highlight is still the display that flips around the keyboard, featuring the same 3:2 aspect ratio as before. The base model comes with a WUXGA+ (1920×1280) IPS display, incorporating the HP Sure View integrated privacy screen feature. The latter limits the viewing angles with a press of a button, preventing nosy onlookers from catching a glimpse of your display. You can upgrade to a 3000×2000 OLED HDR panel with a brightness of up to 500 nits, but without Sure View. Both screens are covered with Gorilla Glass NBT.

A stylus pen is still included with every purchase, but it can now be magnetically attached to the side of the display. Since Zoom meetings are an unavoidable part of life nowadays, HP has upgraded the webcam to a 5MP unit with temporal noise reduction; a physical camera shutter, dual-array microphones and four Bang & Olufsen speakers continue to be fitted.

Inside lies a new Intel Core i7-1255U processor with ten cores, running at up to 4.7GHz with Turbo Boost. You still get integrated Iris Xe graphics and 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM, along with a 1TB SSD. The 66Wh battery is claimed to provide up to 14 hours of use with the IPS screen and up to 11 hours and 45 minutes with the OLED version.

The Spectre x360 13.5 maintains the use of two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports (one on the bevelled right rear corner of the laptop; a 3.5mm headphone jack sits on the other side), a single USB-A port and a microSD card reader. It also comes with a fingerprint reader and Windows Hello facial recognition.

Windows 11 Home comes pre-installed, with HP adding its own software to the mix, such as HP Palette that enables facial identification in photos and wireless file sharing; it also includes the Concepts sketching app and Duet screen sharing. Meanwhile, HP Presence and GlamCam are geared towards video conferencing, adding a beauty filter, a ring light overlay on the screen and a webcam facial tracking feature similar to Apple’s Centre Stage.
