Huawei MateBook 16s specs
Among the two laptops Huawei has launched today, the MateBook 16s is arguably the more premium of the two here. It features a 16-inch, 3:2 IPS display with a 2520 x 1680p resolution. It’s capable of a maximum brightness of 300nits, has a 1500:1 contrast ratio and also has touchscreen support for 10-point touch. The display covers 100% of the sRGB colour gamut with a Delta E < 1 for high colour accuracy.
Under the hood, you’ll find an Intel Core 17-12700H processor, mated to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD. That processor comes with 6 of Intel’s performance cores, 8 efficiency cores with a total of 20 threads, all alongside integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. Keeping it all cool are two 75mm fans with 2mm heat pipes. It will also come with Windows 11 Home out of the box.
Elsewhere, there’s an 84Wh battery together with a 90W charger in the box, a fingerprint sensor on the power button, and a backlit keyboard with keys using a 1.5mm travel. The 1080p webcam meanwhile is now finally placed above the display, while there’s front-facing surround sound stereo speakers too. Users of Huawei smartphones might also appreciate the Huawei Super Device feature to link your Huawei devices together.
As for I/O, the MateBook 16s has two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a USB-C port, a Thunderbolt 4 port, a HDMI port as well as a 3.5mm. It also supports Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6E connectivity. The overall chassis measures 17.8mm thick, weighs 1.99kg and is available in Space Gray.
Huawei MateBook D 16
The MateBook D lineup is typically the more affordable laptop among the Huawei laptop product stack. With the new MateBook D 16, you’re getting a 16-inch, 16:10 IPS display pushing a FHD+ resolution. It packs a maximum brightness of 300nits and covers 100% of the sRGB colour gamut, with a 1200:1 contrast ratio too.
You’ll also find two different processor options with the MateBook D16, with either the Core i5-12450H on lower end models or a Core i7-12700H on the top spec one. They come with up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and a 512GB SSD too. It should be noted though that only the Core i7 model has Intel Xe integrated graphics, as the Core i5 one comes with Intel UHD graphics instead. The MateBook D 16 will come with Windows 11 Home out of the box too.
Keeping the lights on is a 60Wh battery with a small 137g 65W pocket charger bundled together with the MateBook D 16. For I/O you’ll find a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, a USB-A 2.0 port, two USB-C ports, a HDMI port and a 3.5mm audio jack too. There’s a fingerprint sensor and Huawei Super Device here as well as Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6 connectivity, while the webcam is now 1080p too. It’s available in Mystic Silver, weighs 1.7kg and measures 18.4mm thick.
