If you want the ultimate gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone series from Asus should be top of mind. Besides having the latest hardware, the device is equipped with extra gaming focused features including mappable shoulder triggers, AeroActive cooler and RGB lighting. Now Asus has officially announced that its ROG Phone 6 will be launching next month and they have dropped a couple of teasers of what to expect from the upcoming gaming device.
The ROG Phone 6 will be launching on the 5th of July 2022 at 8pm Malaysian time. It’s likely that the launch event will be streamed live and we expect Asus Malaysia to reveal local pre-order details shortly after the global event.
Succeeding the current ROG Phone 5S, Asus said that the ROG Phone 6 will feature a new futuristic space-inspired design that puts gamers in full control. Under the hood, the new flagship gaming device will run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform which boasts 10% improved performance and 30% better power efficiency compared to the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
For a more fluid visual experience, the new ROG Phone will feature a Samsung AMOLED panel that can push a higher 165Hz refresh rate. The display refresh rate is a step up from the current 144Hz offered on the ROG Phone 5s and it’s on par with the likes of Nubia’s Red Magic 7. To maintain peak performance during intensive gaming, the ROG Phone 6 promises to offer a new cooling system with unmatched capabilities.
Asus typically introduces an array of gaming add-ons for the ROG Phone series and the new model promises to continue the tradition with an impressive ecosystem of accessories. Asus has also confirmed that it will introduce an exciting array of gaming headphones.
At the moment, it isn’t clear how many models will Asus introduce for the ROG Phone 6. For the current ROG Phone 5s, the price starts from RM2,999 for the base ROG Phone 5s model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and it goes all the way up to RM4,999 for the ROG Phone 5s Pro which comes with 18GB RAM and 512GB of storage.
