Netflix now streaming on Astro Ultra Box, bundled with Entertainment Plus and Platinum Packs

Astro is now streaming Netflix on its 4K-enabled Ultra Box as part of its all-new Astro Experience. The partnership was first announced in June and it is part of its ambition to be the number 1 aggregator of best streaming services in Malaysia.

The Netflix streaming service is currently bundled with Astro’s Entertainment Plus Pack which costs from RM129.99/month and Platinium Pack from RM194.99/month. The packs are offered with zero, 12-month or 24-month contracts. Obviously, you’ll pay less when you commit to higher contract duration. However, to enjoy streaming apps such as Netflix and HBO Go, you must subscribe with a minimum of 12 months contract.

Customers who sign up for their Astro Broadband packages will enjoy complimentary Netflix for 3 months. This is a limited-time offer from 15th November 2021.

According to Astro’s Netflix page, the plans come with Netflix Standard by default. The standard plan provides Full HD 1080p streaming on two simultaneous screens. If you want to get 4K streaming with support for 4 simultaneous streams, you can upgrade to Netflix Premium for an additional RM9.43/month.

If subscribed separately, Netflix Standard costs RM45/month while Premium is going for RM55/month.

If you’re an existing Netflix user, you are able to merge your Netflix and Astro accounts so that your history on Netflix will not be affected. According to Astro, you’ll have to sign up and activate your Astro account using the same email and password as Netflix.

To access Netflix on the Ultra Box, you can get the app from the Apps row or tune in on CH 741. If you’re using the new remote, you can launch Netflix by pressing the dedicated Netflix button.

At the moment, the Netflix app is available only on the Astro Ultra Box and it is coming soon to the Ulti Box. Astro will add more apps to its connected boxes and the Disney+ Hotstar app is expected to be available next month.
