Boy, I love jeans. But I sure wish that I had a dedicated pocket on the side of my thigh that can only perfectly fit a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. Oh, they just announced it?
You read it correctly. Samsung Australia announced a collaboration with Australian jeans brand Dr Denim to release the Z Flip Pocket Denim. The pants are a limited edition run of jeans that complement the Galaxy Z Flip 3 phone.
“Who needs big pockets? They take up too much space, they don’t look stylish, and the latest phones slip and slide inside them. Redesigned so that they exclusively fit the Galaxy Z Flip 3, the Z Flip Pocket Denim jeans make big pockets a thing of the past,” wrote Samsung in their announcement page.
The Z Flip Pocket Denim looks like regular jeans, but they have two standout features— the first feature being the two Z shapes covering the area where there are supposed to be pockets. The second feature is that square pocket placed on the jean wearer’s thigh.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3—one of the top flipping smartphones of the year—is a device that folds to half the size of a standard flat phone, clamshell-style. The fold turns the phone into a small square device that fits better in most pockets, but Samsung feels like “small, square pockets that better frame the legs the next big trend”.
“Smartphones are often not pocket friendly, so we’ve leveraged Dr Denim’s style credentials to design jeans that shake up the pocket norm and perfectly fit our compact Galaxy Z Flip 3. Our Galaxy Z Flip 3 users expect the very best in design and pocketability, and what better to accompany our premium phones than the perfect pair of bespoke jeans,” said Hayley Walton, Head of Brand Marketing at Samsung Mobile.
They look ridiculous to me, but I don’t want to yuck anyone’s yums. If it looks good to you, the Z Flip Pocket Denim is available in both men’s and women’s, through Dr Denim’s website. But you’d need to be fast, as these jeans are only capped at 450 pairs.
They also cost a wild amount for jeans—retailing at AUD 1,499 (RM4,681.23) a pair. However, each pair also comes with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 (128GB). The same phone alone here costs RM3,999, which means these jeans would still cost you more than RM600.
