Besides the new MateBook 14s, Huawei Malaysia is also introducing the Nova 9 and the Watch GT 3 during the APAC autumn product launch event next week. The event is happening on Thursday, 28th October and you can watch the live stream from their Facebook page.

Huawei Nova 9

The Huawei Nova 9 is their latest premium mid-range smartphone which looks identical to the Honor 50. The biggest difference is that it lacks 5G and access to Google Mobile Services. The Nova 9 was launched in China last month and it is set to launch in Europe today.

Similar to the Honor 50, the Nova 9 gets a 6.57″ Full HD+ OLED display that pushes a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it also runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor but it doesn’t support 5G due to the ongoing restrictions from the US government. In China, the device is configured with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

The camera bump design is similar to the Honor 50 as well. Instead of a 108MP main shooter, the Nova 9 gets a 50MP main camera that uses an RYYB sensor which claims to allow 40% more light compared to a traditional RGGB sensor. It also gets an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and two 2MP shooters for depth and macro. Upfront, the screen has a single punch-hole to house a 32MP selfie camera.

Powering the Nova 9 is a 4,300mAh battery that supports 66W Huawei SuperCharge via USB-C. Despite being a 4G-only device, it still supports 802.11ax WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2. It would be interesting to see how much the Nova 9 will be priced in Malaysia as the Honor 50 is priced from RM1,699 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model while the higher-spec model with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage is priced at RM1,999.

Huawei Watch GT 3

The Watch GT 3 appears to be Huawei’s new premium smartwatch that comes with a circular design and a digital crown. As shown in the teaser, the GT 3 looks different from the current Huawei Watch 3 Pro as it comes with slimmer bezel markers. Like most Huawei new smartwatches, you can expect it to offer extensive health and fitness tracking while running on their very own HarmonyOS 2 operating system.

To recap, the current Huawei Watch 3 is priced at RM1,699, while the Watch 3 Pro is going for RM2,199.
