With universities reopening in Malaysia this month, YTL Foundation through Yes has announced a new campaign to help students with their online learning needs. Eligible university students can redeem a free Yes 4G sim and enjoy 7GB of 4G data each month for a period of one year.

At the moment, the Learn From Home University campaign is available for students and staff members at 35 universities which include Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM), Universiti Tunku Abdulah Rahman (UTAR), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Multimedia University (MMU), International Medical University Malaysia (IMU) and more. YTL Foundation is open with working with more institutions of higher learning to expand the programme.

The free SIM and data offer are given to students with no strings attached. There’s no contract or upfront payment required, so students can learn online with greater peace of mind. The free 7GB monthly data offer is available from now until 30th September 2022, which is a total of 84GB.

If you’re an existing recipient under the University Learn From Home programme, you are able to extend your free data online. With the extension, you can get 7GB of data credited into your Yes account monthly until September 2022.

According to YTL Communications CEO Wing K. Lee, an average Yes 4G user consumes about 10-12GB of data each month during the last 18 months. With more universities returning to a hybrid mode of learning, Yes expects data consumption to go down and the 7GB quota is a good place to start. If students require more data, they are able to top up from as little as RM1 per GB.

Yes currently offers one of the most value for prepaid data plans in Malaysia with 20GB of data going for RM20/month. Users can add 1GB for RM1 that’s valid for 1 day or 10GB for RM10 valid for 7 days.

WIng also emphasised that Yes is currently the first and only all-4G network in Malaysia and it has 91% nationwide population coverage. To anticipate demand, the telco has continuously increased the capacity and fiberisation of its sites. He also added that Yes is also offering extra incentives and prizes through its MyYes app to gamify reloads among its users.
