iPad mini and iPad 2021 now available for purchase in Malaysia

Apple’s new iPad mini and iPad for 2021 are officially available in Malaysia. Both tablets were announced alongside the iPhone 13 series and you can order them online today.

8.3″ iPad mini 2021

The all-new 6th gen iPad mini which comes without a home button is already listed on the Apple online store. It is priced from RM2,299 for the 64GB WiFi model and it comes in a total of four colours – Space Grey, Pink, Purple and Starlight.

  • 64GB WiFi – RM2,299
  • 64GB WiFi + Cellular – RM2,949
  • 256GB WiFi – RM2,949
  • 256GB WiFi + Cellular – RM3,599

The new iPad mini supports the 2nd gen Apple Pencil which costs RM549. There’s no option for a keyboard and the Smart Folio Cover costs RM269. According to the online store, the iPad mini takes 1 business day to ship. For students, the iPad mini is also available on student pricing which starts from RM2,069.

The iPad mini 2021 runs on the latest Apple A15 Bionic chip and it features an 8.3″ Liquid Retina display that pushes 2266×1488 pixels resolution. It also gets a 12MP ultra-wide camera that supports Centre Stage, while the rear gets a 12MP main camera with a quad-LED True Tone flash. Similar to the iPad Air, it also uses USB-C which can be used to connect to cameras, external displays and even 4K displays.

In terms of connectivity, it supports 802.11ax WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. For the cellular version, the iPad mini also supports 5G mobile connectivity with sub-6GHz bands.

10.2″ iPad 2021

iPad 2021 WiFi version with 4-5 weeks shipping time

If you’re looking for an entry-level tablet, the 10.2″ iPad has been upgraded with double the storage and it is still priced from under RM1,500. Below is the official iPad pricing in Malaysia:

  • 64GB WiFi – RM1,499
  • 64GB WiFi + Cellular – RM2,119
  • 256GB WiFi – RM2,149
  • 256GB WiFi + Cellular – RM2,769

If you need an Apple Pencil, it will cost you RM419 while the Smart Keyboard can be added for RM649. If you’re eligible, there’s also student pricing which starts from RM1,409.

The new 9th gen iPad now gets an Apple A13 Bionic chip, which is the same processor as the iPhone 11. Apple has gotten rid of its small 32GB storage option and the new model comes with either 64GB or 256GB of storage.

Despite being the “budget” iPad, it still features the new 12MP front camera that supports Centre Stage. Although the front display retains the same 10.2″ size, 2160×1620 pixels resolution and 500 nits of brightness, it finally supports True Tone which adapts the screen’s white balance according to your environment.

iPad 2021 Cellular version with 1 business day delivery

In terms of availability, the iPad WiFi version is listed on the online store with a shipping time of 4-5 weeks. However, you can get it faster if you choose the cellular version which will ship in just 1 business day.
