Kuala Lumpur reported 201 new infections while the cumulative case total rose to 2.27 million confirmed COVID-19 infections.

However, this is the first time in almost three months that daily cases have gone below 10,000, with the last on July 12, when 8,574 new cases were reported.

Dr Noor Hisham in a statement later said there were 12 imported cases today, and that 93.7 per cent or 8,485 from today’s tally involved locals.

He said 14,454 more patients were cured and discharged, bringing the total recovery to 92.2 per cent, with 2,100,565 patients discharged to date.

To date, there are 835 patients warded in Intensive Care Units nationwide, of which 20 patients are still suspected COVID-19 cases. 535 of these patients require intubation.

The director general also reported six new clusters today involving two new clusters each in Pahang, Kelantan and Johor, involving three workplaces and three community infections. —  Malay Mail
