What is a Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag?

The Galaxy Smart Tag is a digital tracker that can help locate tagged personal items such as your bag, keys or even your pet. The standard Smart Tag uses Bluetooth and it costs RM119 each while a twin pack retails for RM209. It uses Samsung’s Nearby Find feature to locate your tagged item via Bluetooth. If it is out of range, it turns to the Galaxy Find Network where other nearby devices can help relay the location information back to you.

You can trigger the Galaxy Smart Tag to emit a sound via your smartphone which is useful when locating lost items at home. The tag also has a button that you can personalise to ring your phone or control IoT devices at home. It is powered by a replaceable coin battery that has a maximum rated life span of 300 days.

There’s also the Smart Tag+ which is a UWB version that costs RM149 each or RM259 for a twin-pack. With UWB, it can provide better direction accuracy and has support for AR to help visually guide you to your missing items.
