Here’s how TikTok is shaping the world

I know TikTok might not be your cup of tea. But here’s the thing: even if you aren’t on the app, the effect of it is so large that it has probably influenced the things you watch, the things you listen to, and even how the world works. It’s pretty spooky, but also pretty exciting.

TikTok has 689 million monthly active users worldwide and it is scary how influential this one platform is. If you’re not in on it, in my opinion, you’re missing out on a lot of modern pop culture. And that’s okay—you really don’t need to if you don’t want to.

But whether you like it or not, Tiktok is shaping the world as we speak. You might not be using the app, but the up and coming music you hear, the content you watch, and the celebrities of tomorrow will most likely start from Tiktok.

It’s also pretty scary that TikTok has all this power to shape the future of the world. It’s scarier to think that it also has the power to shape all the problems that come with an app that has gone popular so fast. With its problems, TikTok needs to take responsibility for them—and things have been better than last year. It’s just more of a gradual process.
